Deb Beckwith

Deb Beckwith is a passionate motivational, anti-substance use speaker. Her decades of successful sales and marketing work with Fortune 500 companies, Georgia-Pacific Corporation and Home Base Corporation combined with her years in Home Education, support of Drug and Alcohol Education , 4 H leadership and development of Youth Programs in the Faith Community all prepared her for the dynamic work she never planned to do.

In November of 2004 the unspeakable happened… Deb’s oldest daughter Shae, who struggled for years with cold medication addiction, finally died in her sleep as a result of her abuse.
Research with L.A. County Coroner’s office led to the beginning of the educational work Deb does today. From small parent groups to large scale conferences Deb’s life work is to encourage people to become educated and make better decisions.

Interest in this reality based speaker format gained momentum when it was supported by leaders at all levels: California Congresswoman Mary Bono-Mack, Riverside County Supervisor Jeff Stone, Director of State Alcohol and Drug Programs Rene Zito, as well as countless teachers and parent organizations and churches.

Deb responded to overwhelming requests from teachers and community members for presentations and founded the SHAE Project. (Sharing Honest Adolescent Education) in an effort to bring current, relevant legal drug and alcohol abuse information to help families and communities.

Deb’s philosophy is, “I can’t prevent using by a student who is bent on it, but I can affect the ones who might usebecause they believe these substances are safe”!
Deb has worked with California State Universities, various law enforcement agencies as well as local & state officials to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of Over- The-Counter, Prescription Drug and other Legal Substance Abuse by children and teens.

Deb’s passion and conviction for honest education has drawn her to hundreds of schools and now, thousands of children. Youth respond to her honesty and the realities of her truth as she invites them into dialog.

Deb is supported in her work by her two daughters Brooke and Jordyn and by her husband Cliff Beckwith . Deb and Cliff are committed to their Faith , Family and Community.
